Published on

The holidays may be different this year but there are still ways to embrace the magic of Christmas in Squamish. Here are a few things you can do to make the most of the season:

Shop Local

Admire the festive decorations that adorn local shops this time of year. Every business has measures set in place to provide a safe environment for both staff and their customers. This year, many shops in Downtown Squamish are open until 8pm every Friday in December to help you get all your holiday shopping done and maintain safe shopping practices. The Squamish Chamber of Commerce provides a directory to search for local businesses and here is also a list of businesses specifically in Downtown Squamish. Purchasing gift certificates to use at a later date is a great way to support a local business this time of year and give you all the merry feels that come with strengthening your community and the anticipation of finding the perfect item or enjoying an adventure or experience in the future. If you prefer to shop from the comfort of your home, there are a number of gift certificates from vendors available for purchase through the Squamish Chamber of Commerce website.

Enchanting Lights

Wonder in light displays as you embark on the Light Up Squamish, self-guided tour. There is even a chance to win fantastic prize packs when you visit the designated light zones. “Bedtime Stories with Santa Claus” presented by Sea to Sky Gondola

The same event you know and love is available online this year. Bring everyone in the household together or tuck the little ones in bed and listen to a story read by Santa himself. Videos are released every Thursday in December at 4:30 PM with the last story for the year being released on Christmas Eve. You can find the videos here! Share the experience with loved ones around the world or around the corner, by watching these wonderful storytelling videos together virtually. This is a wonderful way to connect safely this season within your own home.
