Squamish is becoming more and more popular as people from outside the Sea to Sky Corridor learn about the wonderful things it has to offer. From climbing and biking to paddle boarding and relaxing, there is something for everyone in Canada’s adventure capital. With so many fun things to do we asked our Realtors to tell us their favourite things to do in Squamish:
Picnic at Porteau Cove
Located just 20km south of Squamish is the beautiful Porteau Cove on the Howe Sound. It is located on the southerly most fjord in North America. It’s a great place to take a picnic and sit and relax. If you fancy staying longer there is also camping here with 44 car accessible sites and 16 park/walk-in sites. Porteau Cove is also known as a great scuba diving spot, which you should definitely be try if you get the chance.
Après cocktails up the gondola
One of our favourite things to do following a tough day is take the Sea to Sky Gondola up the mountain and relax with après cocktails. The views from the deck are simply incredible and it is a wonderful place to relax, wind down or meet friends at the end of a long day.
Alice Lake is a beautiful lake located just north of Squamish. It is within hiking distance and you can easily bike there as well. There are lots of fun things to do at the lake itself be it swimming, paddle boarding, hiking or biking. You can also camp here in a very well run site with lots of spots.
Squamish is famous for having an incredible range of singletrack trails suited to all abilities, whether you’re a first timer or seasoned pro. These trails are regular features in biking films and segments so if you have the chance you should definitely give them a go. You can find out more information on the many trails HERE.
The Howe Sound
The Howe Sound has some great water activities including windsurfing, paddle boarding, kite surfing. Head down and either watch or take part in one of the many water sports taking the area by storm.
There are a number of little beaches near Squamish but our Realtor’s favourite is Minaty Bay at Britannia Beach. Here you can find yourself a secluded spot and enjoy the sea and sunshine away from the crowds. An incredibly relaxing day out!
There are lots of dining options to choose from in Squamish and you can find out more information in our full feature on places to eat. One of our favourite spots is the patio of the Watershed Grill, which has amazing riverfront views. The sockeye salmon burger is incredible and if you’re lucky you may even sea seals or a black bear swimming in the river.
