The Complete Guide to Spring in Squamish

Published on

Spring is officially here in Squamish and you can tell there’s a really buzz in the air! As the temperatures have warmed up in recent weeks, it’s time to get back outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Spring is one of our favourite seasons in Squamish – the days are longer and you don’t have the overwhelming heat of summer to slow you down. With snow still in the alpine, you can enjoy all your favourite activities in one day, including skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and water sports!

We spoke to our Realtors and asked them for their favourite things about spring in Squamish and put together this ultimate guide:

Squamish Farmers Market

Every Saturday, 10am-3pm at Cleveland Avenue and Victoria Street

Enjoy the best of Squamish every weekend and stock up on fresh produce, eggs, and artisan-made goods while supporting your local farmers.

The market is located at the corner of Cleveland and Victoria in Downtown Squamish, and takes place every Saturday from 10am-3pm. In addition to food and crafts, there is also live music and plenty of food trucks!

Dancing Bear Arts & Music Festival

April 27th, 4pm-11pm at Quest University

Dance the night away under the Squamish stars as Dancing Bear Arts & Music Festival returns for another year!

Enjoy a festival packed with incredible musicians, food and artisans, located on the Quest University Campus overlooking the scenic Squamish mountains.

Patio Season

With the sunshine back it’s the start of patio season! Enjoy the stunning outdoor views and soak up some much needed vitamin D after the long, dark winter months. Remember to stay warm though, it’s not summer yet and the weather can change!

Some of our favourite Squamish patios include Match Eatery, Howe Sound Brewpub, and the Watershed Grill!

Hit the Trails

As the snow melts it’s time to get out and hike again! Higher elevated hiking trails are now accessible, and with 8 local provincial parks, there is a lot to choose from.

Bikes are Back

And it’s not just the hiking trails that are open again! No more wishing away the frost on those average snow days, bike season is back. Squamish is blessed with a huge number of bike trails to suit riders of all abilities.

Brave the Water

If you’re feeling especially brave on those warmer days you can also head to the Howe Sound or the local lakes and take a spring plunge!

Stand up paddle boarding and kite surfing are back as well as the weather continues to warm up.

Afternoon Climbs

Rock climbing is one of the sports Squamish is most know for and spring is one of our favourite times to climb. The oppressive heat of summer hasn’t really kicked in yet, and you can enjoy some long days of climbing. Our favourite time to go is in the afternoon as the weather warms up and the evenings get longer!
